“DUNFIELD II, TRINITY BAY” 1950

Located along Route 239 in the “Bight”, Dunfield has a rich history and culture with warm and friendly people who welcome vacationers with great hospitality. Dunfield is typical of numerous traditional outport settlements. It was associated with the inshore fishery, the Labrador fishery and the Seal fishery.  Formerly known as “Cuckold’s Cove” it was renamed in 1913 as Dunfield after Reverend H. Dunfield.

Island Cove in Dunfield is the farthest point in the community where icebergs can be viewed. There are also many marine birds, which frequent the area such as the kittiwake, and the tern.
