Corner Brook

Corner Brook, NL’s second largest city, is situated on the Humber River and has a population of approximately 25,000 people. In 1767 it was explored and charted by Captain James Cook. By 1945 the largest paper mill in the world was constructed there.

It is home to Marble Mountain which is said to have some of the best skiing east of the Rockies.

The area has many hiking trails for visitors and modern facilities for travelers. It has been host to many major sporting events such as the 1999 Canada Winter Games.

This painting depicts one of the first streets in the city in 1925.
